Allowing Chrome Mic and Camera with Webrtc

Use your camera and microphone in Chrome

You can use your camera and microphone for sites in Chrome, like Google Hangouts or Skype. Sometimes, you need to give sites permission first.
  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Navigate to a site that wants to use your microphone and camera.
  3. In the dropdown that appears, you have a few options:
    • Allow: This allows the site to use your camera and microphone. You'll see a notice to confirm this.
    • Block: This prevents the site from using your camera and microphone. Note: Some sites won't work if you choose this option. For example, you might not be able to join a video conference.
You can change which sites can use your camera and microphone:
  1. Open Chrome.
  2. In the top right, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu .
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Show advanced settings.
  5. In the "Privacy" section, click Content settings.
  6. In the "Media" section, click one of the options:
    • Ask when a site requires access to your camera and microphone: Chrome alerts you whenever a site asks to use to your camera and microphone.
    • Do not allow sites to access your camera and microphone: Automatically deny any site requests to use your camera and microphone.
  7. To remove permissions you already granted to sites, click Manage exceptions
Note: If you're using a Chrome device at work or school, your network administrator might set camera and microphone settings for you. In that case, you can't change them here. Learn about using a managed Chrome device.
